Pre-Symposium Training

Get Your Presenters Ready with Narrative Training!

The goal of our Pre-Seminar training is to create talks that resonate with Outer Circle audiences, which are people who don’t have the deep background into your subject matter that you do. Through working with the ABT, you’ll learn how to build a narrative that can help the audience buy in to the big picture of why your presentation is important, then lead them into the details of the work that you’re doing.

The training comes in two versions: Deluxe and Economy.

DELUXE

  • Duration:  Four week program 
  • Number of participants:  12
  • Goal 1:  You will work only with your 1 sentence ABT over several drafts with our trainers to lock down your narrative.
  • Goal 2:    You will use your 1 sentence ABT as the outline for your presentation, working with our trainers over several iterations to hone and polish your presentation

SCHEDULE FOR THE DELUXE PROGRAM

Week 1: ABTs

  • Lecture 1:  Intro to the ABT & Narrative Structure
  • Participants submit first ABT draft.
  • Participants revise ABT based on notes.
  • ABT finalized and will be used as presentation outline.

Week 2: Presentations

  • Lecture 2:  Slide design & presentation structure
  • Participants submit “broad narrative” slides of their presentation for review and feedback (first 1 to 6 slides)
  • Broad narrative slides finalized.

Week 3: Slide Dissections

  • Participants record themselves giving full presentation and submitting recording and slides for review.
  • Slide Dissection – trainers send participants feedback to help strengthen their narratives and streamline slides.
  • Participants incorporate notes into presentations

Week 4: Polish

  • Participants record themselves giving revised full presentation and submitting recording and revised slides
  • Polish – trainers send participants final feedback.

Economy

  • Duration:  Two week program 
  • Number of participants:  Unlimited
  • Goal 1:  You will work only with your 1 sentence ABT over two drafts with our trainers to lock down your narrative.
  • Goal 2:    You will use your 1 sentence ABT as the outline for your presentation.

SCHEDULE FOR THE ECONOMY PROGRAM

Week 1: ABTs

  • Lecture 1:  Intro to the ABT & Narrative Structure
  • Participants will submit a first draft of their ABT and receive a round of feedback on it from our trainers

Week 2: Presentations

  • Lecture 2:  Slide design & presentation structure
  • Participants will be given a checklist for guidance in converting their ABT to a presentation.
